Windows 10 Support Has Ended:
What Does This Mean for Your Union?
Key point: As of October 14, 2025, Windows 10 no longer gets security updates from Microsoft. Your computers will still turn on, but risk climbs the longer you stay on Windows 10—especially at dispatch, the front desk, and the treasurer’s office.

Why unions should care
Safety, Compatibility & Security
Protect member data. Unsupported computers are easier targets for ransomware and password-stealing malware.
Audits and insurance. Many auditors and cyber-insurance forms ask whether you’re using supported software. Running Windows 10 after support ends often triggers findings.
Office still works (for now). Microsoft Office apps can still run on Windows 10, but the operating system is out of support. Treat that as a short bridge, not a long-term plan.
Your Options
Upgrade to Windows 11 (best option). If the machine is eligible, move it now.
Short-term security updates program (temporary bridge). Use it only where you must keep Windows 10 for a bit.
Replace or virtualize older machines. For devices that can’t move forward, plan a replacement or use a secure cloud desktop.
Plan Ahead
A simple 6-week plan for a union office
Week 1 — Make a list. Note every PC: user, location, role, Windows version, and whether it handles dues, grievance files, or dispatch.
Week 2 — Decide per device. Upgrade what can move to Windows 11, place anything stuck on Windows 10 into the short-term updates program, and schedule replacements.
Weeks 3–4 — Roll out in batches. Back up files, pilot with low-risk users first, then schedule finance/dispatch once you’ve tested printers, card readers, and line-of-business software.
Weeks 5–6 — Lock it down. Turn on device encryption, tighten admin rights, and update your policy: “Only supported systems handle member data.” Confirm your cyber-insurance answers match the new setup.

Our platform is hosted only in SOC 2 Type II / SOC 3 Type II–audited data centers, giving you a proven compliance baseline from day one.
Nightly Off-Site Backups
Your data is backed up automatically every night to a separate, secure data center—so you’re protected from accidental loss or hardware failures.
Security You Can Trust
Your connection to our system is encrypted with HTTPS (SSL/TLS) using 2048-bit certificates, ensuring your data stays private and tamper-resistant in transit.
What Are the Costs?
Rule of Thumb
Upgrade to Windows 11: Often $0 in software if the computer is eligible; some labor time.
Short-term updates for Windows 10: Use sparingly, just to buy time.
New hardware/Cloud PC: Prioritize desks with the highest risk (treasurer, dispatch, grievance teams).
FAQs
Will our computers stop working? No—but they’re no longer getting security fixes.
Do we have to replace everything today? No. Upgrade what you can, use short-term updates where needed, and phase out old gear.
Can we avoid downtime? Yes—pilot first, then do quick scheduled windows for each team.

Dedicated Infrastructure: Your security is our priority. Every client receives their own dedicated server, meaning your data is never co-mingled with anyone else’s. This private environment ensures maximum security and performance.
Choose a reliable partner that follows the latest security protocols.
Will Union Impact Still Work?
Short answer: Yes, Union Impact will still work.
Union Impact runs in the browser, so as long as you use a modern, up-to-date browser and have internet, the app will load and function.
That said, here’s the practical guidance:
Best practice: Use Union Impact on Windows 11, macOS, or ChromeOS—all supported OSes.
Windows 10 after support ended: The app will still open and work, but the device is higher risk (no OS security updates). Many auditors/insurers expect supported systems.
If you must stay on Windows 10 temporarily:
Enroll the PC in the short-term security updates program (ESU) if eligible.
Keep Chrome/Edge fully updated and remove any old/unsupported plugins.
Turn on disk encryption and modern endpoint protection.
Require MFA for Union Impact logins.
Limit Windows 10 use to low-risk roles and schedule an upgrade/replacement.
Quick matrix:
Windows 11 / macOS / ChromeOS → ✅ Fully recommended
Windows 10 + short-term security updates → ⚠️ Acceptable as a bridge
Windows 10 with no security updates → ❌ Not recommended for devices handling member data, dues, grievances, or dispatch
